Linux Foundation是一個成立於2007年的非營利性組織，致力於促進Linux的成長，Linux Foundation由許多來自世界各定的Linux與開放原始碼領導廠商所支持，主要在支援Linux創始人Linus Torvalds的工作，Linux Foundation藉由提供統合的資源及服務來促進、保護及標準化Linux，以便Linux與封閉平台競爭。 - Linux Driver Project - http://www.linuxdriverproject.org/twiki
這是一個由超過200個資深Linux核心開發者及超過10個專案經理所組成的開放原始碼社群，主要目的開發及維護驅動程式，本計畫希望與硬體設備廠商合作開發Linux驅動程式，同時會負責將驅動程式提交內建至Linux核心，並維護整個驅動程式，他們也願意與廠商簽訂NDA以便進行技術規格保密，最終目的希望能產生GPLV2版權的驅動程式。
